What solutions were thought by the liberals and radicals to the problems posed by industrialisation ?
Ans.
(i) Industrialisation brought men, women and children to factories. Working hours were often long and wages were poor. Unemployment was also common. Since towns were growing rapidly, housing and sanitation were problems.
(ii) The liberals and radicals firmly believed in the values of individuals effort, labour and enterprise. If freedom of individuals was ensured, if the poor could labour and those with capital could operate without restraint, they believed that societies would develop.
